D is for DOWNs Town Mall: “The Road” Scholars April A to Z Blogging Challenge

We made a special course to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day, March 21, 2018.

The theme of the international celebration was

#WhatIBringToMyCommunity #WDSD18

This special free course offers a short explanation of WDSD and samples from three of our paid courses: For the Love of Music, Let’s Get Ready to Rumble, and Cooking and Nutrition.

Part of the course introduces another project of The Road We’ve Shared – DOWNs Town Mall. The mall is a site the celebrates entrepreneurs with Down syndrome.  These young business owners are great examples of how everyone brings something to their community when they have the right supports in place.

We hope you’ll visit DOWNs Town Mall!

A to Z Blogging Challenge on The Road We've SharedFor the past four years, we’ve participated in the A to Z Blogging Challenge.  Starting in 2010, The A to Z challenge has grown to include over 1,000 bloggers. For our fifth year, we’re going to talk about our online courses designed for adults who have Down syndrome.

The Road Scholars is a place where our community – adults with Down syndrome and the people who care for them – can come together and learn about topics that matter to them.

Our self-advocate catalog includes a mix of free and paid courses:

  • World Down Syndrome Day Celebration
  • ‘Tis The Season
  • Let’s Get Ready to Rumble
  • For The Love Of Musicals
  • Mouse Movies – Halloween
  • Over the Rainbow
  • Cooking and Nutrition (Fall Flavors)

We have both independent study (no set time frame) and more traditional online courses where students learn together on a specific timeline.

Our April posts will highlight topics and activities covered in these courses.
